Shinelight sat in a tree, outside the heart of her clan but within the bounderies of her clan, DayClan. She was deeply troubled, asking StarClan for answers. She knew she was to protect and fight for her clan, but lately some fights have been very pointless...one about stealing prey they didn't steal... <I don't know what's worth fighting for, or why I have to scream when certain things happen... Please help me find some answers.....> Shinelight prayed, her glowing yellow eyes staring intently at the sky.

Hickorypounce padded through the forest, just within the borders of his own Clan, NightClan. His green eyes were clouded with thought, and as he walked, Shinelight's scent crossed his nose. He lifted his head and looked around. <DayClan scent?> He thought. He blinked confusedly and narrowed his eyes to peer at his surroundings.

Amberrose, also in Nightclan, ran through the woods, stopping at the border with Dayclan, taking a deep calming breath. Her pale golden pelt appeared to be giving off a strange dark aura. That was because she was being visited by the dark shadow that frequently crept through her dreams. He also happened to have her heart in his dark paws. The Dark Forest tom Brokenshadow. He was only visible as a faint translucent shadow, standing at Amberrose's shoulder, but his jet-black pelt, slender lithe form, long legs, and deadly dark brown eyes exuded danger. He was a silent killer with the blood of countless cats on his claws. He was Amberrose's fallen angel and no one would touch her on his watch. Amberrose's eyes darted around, hoping no one spotted her. What would they think of her if they knew?

"Brokenshadow, I can't talk right now. Ummm... just give me a few minutes and then we can discuss whatever you want." she whispered hesitantly. Her companion only gave her a feral grin and vanished. She sighed and then followed the scent of her Clanmate that she had picked up. She saw Hickorypounce and padded up to him. "Hey Hickorypounce. What are you up to?" she asked curiously, but wasn't able to keep from fidgeting nervously.

"I wanted to go for a walk to clear my head. Think about some things." Amberrose replied. She flicked her tail back and forth, looking at him for a moment. "Do you ever get lonely Hickorypounce?" she asked.

He shrugged once more, blinking at her. "Sometimes yes, sometimes no," he twitched his whiskers thoughtfully. "but a lot of the time, I suppose, yes."

Amberrose nodded in understanding. She sat down and gave her chest fur a few swift licks, choosing her next words carefully. "What do you do when you feel torn between the right, loyal choice, and the choice that your heart wants?" she asked, gazing at him with conflicted turquoise eyes.

Hickorypounce stopped in mid-thought, and also sat down, curling his tail around his paws. "Sometimes the right, loyal choice, won't make you happy. Your heart knows what's best for you, but that path can also bring you to your doom. I can't explain it in a way that'll sound simple and easy to understand, but I know that it's always best to follow your heart. Even if that will lead you astray. Some cats may tell you otherwise, that your duty is to the cats around you, and the life of your Clan, that you have no choice, but I believe that everyone has a duty to themselves, their life and happiness, as well. What do I do when I feel torn between the right, loyal choice, and the choice that my heart wants? I pass the boundaries and walk on the side that my heart feels I should." He replied. [Bah, he sounds like a preacher, and I sound confusing. And I sound confused. I am confused. Hopefully some of that made sense... >.< xD] Do you find this valuable? |

Amberrose hesitated for a moment, but then nodded. "Yes, against all odds I believe so. I never thought Dark Forest cats were capable of love, especially ones with a past like his, but I guess there is still a small part of him that just wanted to find someone to care for and that would care for him. If nothing else, I trust that he won't ever hurt me. Despite his actions, I can sense that his feelings for me are real." she responded thoughtfully.

He nodded, satisfied. "Good." But yet, a twinge of unease rested in him, and he meowed. "You know, that he is Dark Forest. And that anything can happen. I hope that his feelings for you don't change, I wouldn't like you to be hurt, to be shattered, to be betrayed. I pray that nothing like that happens to you." He purred quietly. "I wish you well. If anything happens, or goes wrong," he hoped with all his heart nothing would go wrong, "don't hesitate to come to me."

Amberrose smiled. "Thank you Hickorypounce. I'll be sure to do that." she purred gratefully. She sucked in a quiet breath as she felt Brokenshadow's presence behind her. He had reappeared to see what was taking so long. He gazed silently at Hickorypounce, reading him with calculating dark eyes.

The gray tom stared back, equally as calculating, silently acknowledging his presence. Then after a few moments, rising to his paws, he dipped his head. "I will take my leave." Silently he turned, and slipped into the bushes, disappearing with a rustle of leaves.

"Brokenshadow, I was talking to him! Now he left!" she hissed, slightly disappointed. Brokenshadow frowned. "I noticed and he chose to leave. You aren't falling for him are you?" he purred, but with a dangerous undertone to his voice. Amberrose looked at him sharply. "Even if I was, that isn't any of your business! Besides, you know I have feelings for you." she retorted. Brokenshadow sighed. "I know. Well, I suppose if talking to Hickorypounce makes you happy, then it's okay." he conceded. "It does." Amberrose said softly. Brokenshadow twitched his ears. "Hickorypounce seems like a smart cat. I'd like to speak to him. You can come if you want." he mewed. Then he vanished and reappeared at Hickorypounce's side, trotting along beside him. Amberrose followed with a small shake of her head. "Hickorypounce... do you have any feelings for Amberrose?" he asked calmly, with no trace of menace in his tone, only curiosity.
