Seeking company but in denial

Ice sat in the middle of the camp washing her snowy white fur. She had jst come back from searching for her sister Frost. Frost had run away from the clan and Ice had led the search party to track her down. They had not found Frost. She stooped washing and sighed. Now she was alone in the clan. She growled as se thought of her sister's cowardice.She would not leave like her. She would never fall in love. At least that was what she wanted to believe. Ice was lonely. She would never admit to herself that she wanted a mate. She kept on remembering Frost and what she had done. Why did her emotions have to be so confusing? She sighed and started towards the camp entrance

A silver-and-black tomcat took a few steps from where he had sat grooming hisself to stand beside Ice and, though he didn't know her, he asked, "Going hunting or something?" Phalanx-kepa, despite being a Rookie still, could've become a Gladiator already. But he had to remain with the other kepas until his mentor taught him anything. But he still tended to avoid his denmates more often than not.

She turned when she heard a voice. She did not know the Rookie who had spoke to her but she saw no reason to ignore him and he was the first one to speak to her since her sister's betrayl. She decided that she could use the company. "Yes I am going hunting. Feel free to join me if you like" she told him

"Okay. By the way, the name's Phalanx-kepa," he told her, guessing she didn't know his name. His reclusive attitude ended up with him being unknown to many cats.

She nodded "I am Ice" she said. She knew that there had been rumors about her lately because of Frost but she made no mention of them as she led the way to the camp entrance

The black-and-silver tom shrugged his shoulders, glancing around himself to see if he could hear, scent, or see any prey. "I guess my mentor won't mind too much."

"Well if they can they can just tell me why they negleted your training." she said The white she cat stepped out into the forest. Her dark blue eyes missed nothing as she scanned the forest for prey

For a moment Phalanx-kepa froze, ears pricked and jaws parted. Then he slid into the hunter's crouch and, after a moment, pounced, emerging with a vole in his jaws.

Ice sat there waiting for him. A thrush was at her paws. "Good catch" she said as she buried her thrush to collect later

"Well you probably know this already but when hunting it is best to stay upwind so that they can't scet you" the white she cat continued deeper into the woods

"Yep, but a refresher never hurt any cat." Phalanx-kepa trotted after Ice with a slight grin, though it quickly dissapeared.

Ice sighed. "My sister Frost betrayed the clan and left to be with her Pondclan mate. I just want to forget her" she said quietly

"Well I can understand why you want to forget. I've never felt it before but a cat that would betray their own Clan for a tom from another group shouldn't deserve a second thought," Phalanx-kepa meowed. Then he added, "Sorry for bringing it up. I should've minded my own business."
