Swiftly Teaching Faith
Feb 19 2012, 9:13 PM EST
A pure white she-cat with long, silky fur that always appeared to be blown back sat in the center of camp, patiently waiting to be joined by her apprentice, Faithpaw. It was Swiftpelt, one of RubyClan's nine knights. Her silver eyes flickered excitedly, anxious to train her first apprentice.

Faithpaw came out of the Novice den. She was nervous. Would her mentor be hard on her because she was half kittypet? She hoped not. She hurried over to Swiftpelt

Swiftpelt smiled at Faithpaw as she appeared out of the novice den. "Hello, Faithpaw. I might as well break the ice now. No, I won't treat you different because of your past. I don't have a drop of Clan blood in me, but that doesn't change who I am, so I know it won't change you. Now, what would you like to do to first. Fighting? Hunting? Exploring the territory? We should probably start with that," she purred.

The little orange and white she cat looked relieved and then she loked up at her mentor. "You were not clan born and you are a knight? That is so cool" she said exitedly

Smiling and nodding, Swiftpelt continued. "It actully isn't that uncommon these days, actully. I don't know much about the other knights, but I know that Florabella, another knight, isn't Clan born, either. We were both loners with bad pasts when we came to the Clan, but we've made our lives right again," she purred, as she led the way out of camp.

Faithpaw followed her. "I know Willowflight is clanborn. She talks about her parents sometimes. But that is the only one I know" she said. She followed close behind her in the forest so that she didn't get lost

She nodded. "RubyClan is a mixture of a lot of things, really. Cats here could come from anywhere! You know Thrushpaw and Orionpaw? They're the kits of one of SpringClan's greatest leaders, Honeystar. She's long dead now, though. In fact, she died just after she asked a friend in RubyClan to look after the two," Swiftpelt explained as they walked.

Her eyes widened "I never knew that." she said. She and Orionpaw were kind of close but this was a fact she had not known about him. She did not mention this though. She instead loooked up. "So being half kittypet is nothing to be ashamed of" she concluded

Swiftpelt smiled and nodded. "Of course! Never doubt yourself because of it. Everyone has different pasts, but it doesn't effect their loyalty," she finished. By now they were getting close to the AshClan border. "Now, sniff the air? What do you smell? That's the smell of AshClan. Like us, they're one of Outcast Clans that is not evil. They won't kill you, and will give you a fair chance to speak. They are a good Clan, but don't ever underestimate them. Their Clan has a bad history filled with death and betrayal. Their Clan has been destroyed twice before, so they have become as strong as stone to not let this happen to them again. They aren't to be feared on normal circumstances, but they should never be doubted in battle. Underestimate them and you will be beaten in no time. Still, there's nothing to fear other than shame and pain. Like us, they would never kill an innocent cat," she explained.

Faithpaw listened with wide eyed seriousness. She had heard of Ashclan from returning patrolls and she had heard of two others that she could not rememder
